Campaign Story

Hi! My name is Lisa and my husband’s name is Rich, and we would love to share our story with you.
We’ve been trying to conceive for four years now, and to date, our journey has included two years of trying naturally, one year of fertility acupuncture, two rounds of IUI, and three cycles of IVF (one egg retrieval and two embryo transfers.) Although neither of our transfers resulted in a healthy pregnancy, we have learned a lot from our treatment cycles, and we are being told by our doctors that with a few tweaks to our protocols, we still stand a very good chance of getting pregnant with IVF.
Our main challenge remains finding a way to pay for it. As self-employed freelancers, we buy our health insurance through the individual market, and there are currently no insurance plans available to us that cover fertility treatments. Therefore, we have to pay for our treatment out of pocket.
We are doing everything we can to save up for another round of egg retrieval, and we are also applying for several grants that could help pay for our treatment. However, both of these things take time, and the sooner we can begin treatment, the more likely it is to work. Therefore, we are reaching out to our community of family and friends once again in hopes that we can raise enough to begin treatment with my next cycle.
Funds raised will go towards the costs of building our family. These could include egg retrieval & embryo transfer procedures, medications, ultrasound monitoring, bloodwork, pre-implantation genetic testing, prenatal monitoring and prenatal care, delivery and postpartum care, or possibly adoption expenses (this would be if we don’t end up with any good quality embryos and we still have funds left over; at that point we might decide to put them towards adoption instead).
We’ve been dreaming of welcoming our little bundle of joy into our lives for many years. I myself have been working as a nanny for nearly 20 years, and as much as I have loved caring for other people’s children, I very much want to love and nurture a child of my own. Rich and I have both wanted this our whole lives. We’re not giving up, and we have faith that when we eventually hold our little one in our arms, it will all be worth it.

    We're medically approved for another egg retrieval!

    Hi Everyone!

    We want to send out our love and gratitude both to everyone who supported our campaign the first time around and to all those who have contributed since we re-launched a few days ago. There has been such a surge in new contributions that we have once again been unable to keep up with sending out individual thank-yous in real time; but we plan to sit down and get caught up on that this weekend. We are overwhelmed by the love and support we feel from our community, and we can't thank you enough!

    At this point, we have officially been medically approved to start a new round of egg retrieval (meaning we've re-done all of the required pre-IVF testing and everything looks good!) If we are able to raise the remainder of our goal in the next two weeks, then we can start this with my next cycle! (Obviously the sooner we can do it, the more likely we are to get good results.) So if you are able to give this a quick re-share, that would be amazing!

    We’re still saving up ourselves and applying for grants wherever we can find them, so one way or another, we are going to make this happen. Thank you all so much for being our village. Every little bit brings us one step closer to our miracle baby. ❤️

I’m so sorry to hear that you both are having to go through all of this. It isn’t fun. I just completed my second round of IVF this past October. Unfortunately my two attempts were unsuccessful, and we couldn’t afford to try again. But that was me and what my aging body is going through. I have so much faith that you two will be successful! I’m happy you found a less expensive clinic in NYC. For what it’s worth, Dr. Mor in Encino is amazing! His treatments are definitely the full cost option, but he’s a fabulous doctor. Best of luck and all the blessings to the two of you!!!!!
